Nancy O'Dell's initial work in the industry of broadcast was as an anchor and reporter at WPDE-TV Myrtle Beach South Carolina. In later years, she was employed by WCBD as anchor for the morning show and as a crime reporter. Her articles from Charleston, about how the Charleston police dealt with DUI cases in a manner that was lenient, led to an inquiry by State Law Enforcement Division. The investigation resulted a stricter direction for state officials. In the year 2000, The Associated Press honored Ms. O'Dell with its Best Report of the Years Award in all South Carolina Media.
